No two days are ever the same for me at OMB Bank, and that’s exactly how I like it. My job is all about relationships—building them, reinforcing them and ensuring our shareholders and community members know they’re valued.
From News Anchor to Community Connector
Growing up in 417-land, I always dreamed of being a news anchor. I loved the idea of waking up early, greeting everyone with a smile and delivering the morning news. After earning my degree in Broadcast Journalism from Missouri State University, I pursued that dream, working as a morning anchor for CBS and ABC affiliates in Mississippi and Illinois. It was an exciting career that taught me a lot about communication, but as my parents got older, I knew I wanted to return to Springfield.
That opportunity came when I was chosen to lead MSU’s athletic development efforts. I handled fundraising for all sports programs, connecting with donors and fans—many of whom were OMB Bank clients. In 2021, I made the leap from college athletics to banking, and while it might seem like an unusual transition, at its core, my job is still about relationships.
Early Mornings and Nonstop Connections
Mornings start early for me, often with a coffee meeting at 6:30 or 7 a.m. Some days, I have two or three back-to-back before lunch. My role at OMB isn’t about sitting at a desk; it’s about being out in the community. That’s why I don’t have a traditional office. Instead, you’ll find me at Springfield Chamber events, charity fundraisers and most athletic games, representing OMB Bank and connecting with people.
I also serve on several boards and organizations in the area including Springfield City Council, The Network for Springfield’s Young Professionals, Champions Committed to Kids, the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, the Missouri State University Board of Trustees and Sunrise Rotary. If something important is happening in our community, I’m likely there.
A Fast-Paced, Fulfilling Career
A typical day for me includes coffee meetings in the morning, a lunch meeting, an afternoon board meeting and an evening event or shareholder dinner. Even my weekends are filled with community engagements—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I thrive in this fast-paced environment and I’m lucky to have a spouse who shares my love for community involvement.
Banking Made Better
Banking wasn’t originally in my career plans, but I think I’ve found the perfect fit in my role. OMB is a community bank that truly values relationships and face-to-face interactions. When I bring in a new customer and introduce them to one of our lenders, personal bankers or treasury services officers, I know they’ll receive the same level of care and service I promise.
People often ask me, “What makes OMB so great?” My answer is simple: It’s the way we treat people. We’re big enough to get things done but small enough to prioritize relationships. That’s why I’m proud to be part of Team OMB, working every day to strengthen our community and grow our bank.
